Course: Contemporary Architecture
Brown University | Providence, 2016
The assignment to build a model of a building studied during the semester created the opportunity to experiment and become more familiar with concrete. The model (1:12) aims to communicate the construction process of Peter Zumthor’s Bruder Klaus Chapel. Half of the model remains as the timber structure used as the concrete mold, while the other half exhibits the complete concrete form, after being casted around the timber mold. Acrylic rods show how light penetrates the interior space through holes, where screws were during the casting of the actual building.
